Buju, who now goes by BNXN—it’s still Buju for most of us, mind you—emerged on the scene in 2019 after his song with Show Dem Camp became a hit and he was a guest at Wizkid‘s Starboy Fest in London.
Since then, he has gone up the ranks to become one of the best feature artists of his generation, making a name for himself in the process.
Thanks to all the collaborations, Buju now has more hits than any of his peers. That’s the kind of thing you can only achieve with an enormous amount of talent.
Then there is Marlian Records starboy, Zinoleesky, who came to the limelight in 2020 and dropped singles that turned heads.
He made news when he refused a deal with Davido’s DMW in 2020. As a boy from the street that became popular through viral videos on social media, Naira Marley’s Marlian Records seemed like a good fit for him.
Everything has turned out great since. He put out a major EP in 2020 and he’s still doing wonders; his last single, “Rocking” is a major one.
Lastly, there is Jonzing World’s amazing singer, Ruger. The kid also surfaced in 2020 delivering one of the most iconic debuts we’ve ever seen.
In his first year, he put out a song that became the soundtrack of 2020. “Bounce” was a monster hit and Ruger hasn’t slowed down since.
Now the three of them are being pitched aggressively against each other, but who’s the most talented of them all?
Who ends up winning the Next Rated award doesn’t really mean anything, of course. We’ve had cases like in 2015 where awards felt like it went to the undeserving person. This won’t change anything.
The three guys are for sure very talented. But if you were to pick the one who’s got the most talented, who would you say it is.
For me, I think it’s Zinoleesky because he’s got some kind of versatility. In other words, I think he can do street stuff if he wants to, and he also has what it takes to do stuff that’ll appeal to the international market.
